Created by Maryann Pierse, as part of a SGSAH Internship, the Dark Sage is a text-based game that allows you to explore how colours are created.

Maryann Pierse (she/her) is a PhD candidate in Celtic and Anglo-Saxon Studies at the University of Aberdeen. Her research interests are in the reception of classical texts in the medieval north, medieval multiculturalism and multilingualism, and poetry and prosimetrum. Her non-academic interests include fantasy literature, figure skating and coming up with schemes to distract her from thesis-writing. Of this resource, she says,

The Dark Sage was inspired by my research into pigment recipes and colour terms during my Masters in English 650-1550. It has been a real pleasure to return to such a fun topic, which combines science, literature and craft. I hope you enjoy the story. ‘
